Description
This one is really special, and I will do my best to describe it accurately. This is a turn of the century Rigby Underlever chambered in .410 w/ a 3" chamber. Courtesy of Gary Duffy from Rigby USA, factory records state that the gun was finished July 1st, 1895 and delivered to a Baron Schroder. Original chambering was caliber .303. They show no record of it being rechambered to .410. We believe this was done at a later date, probably in the '60's or '70's, in England. The quality is simply outstanding throughout. The serial number is 163xx. Numbers match stem to stern. It is a stunning example of old world craftsmanship. As a .303 the top tang was drilled for a tang sight. Also, it would have only had a half rib. This has had a new rib laid onto the barrel and then this was engraved with the company logo, etc. The underlever works as it should and fits snug. This gun is tight. The wood is beautiful with no untoward damage or cracks. The buttplate has a perfectly fit hinged trapdoor that virtually disappears into the checkering when closed. Mirror bore. Overall length is 40 3/8", weight 7 lbs 7. LOP to the front trigger when the hammers are at rest is 14 1/2". Take your time, peruse the pictures, follow up with questions if you need to. This is a stunning piece of work, something any shooter or collector would be proud to own.
